According To The Pattern #1

". . . take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you."           Philippians 3:17.

Does it really make any difference what we believe?   If one were to investigate the beliefs of modern day Christianity he would be forced to conclude that the only thing that really matters is belief in Christ.   Everything else is a matter of opinion and may be done (or omitted) as an option.   Is that true?   Does it make any difference?

According to Scripture, it does matter.   What one believes and does will determine where one spends eternity!   Jesus said, "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?" [Luke 6:46].   Jesus expected more of His followers than merely an acceptance of His Sonship.   He expected them to follow His words.

Where are Jesus' words to be found?   You know the answer!   They are found in the Bible.   We must study the Book if we are to discover what our Lord wants us to do.   Do not be deceived, there is a pattern to follow.   According to [Philippians 3:17] it is an observable pattern.   I don't know about you, but I believe that everything built according to a pattern looks the same.   In like manner, when the pattern is deviated from, the results are obvious.   Everyone who compares the object to the pattern will be able to see the flaws.

For the next few weeks, we will be looking at some of the patterns of New Testament Christianity.   Open your Bible and study these lessons.   Compare them to your personal beliefs so that you can see just where you stand.   God will bless you when you follow the pattern that was once delivered to the saints.

Let's all join the Philippian brethren and live our lives according to the pattern that was given. Then we will have the right to call ourselves followers of Jesus.
