| NEW MEXICO WILDFIRES ! |
Last Sunday, it was announced that our elders had accepted the responsibility for goods being shipped to New Mexico by Churches of Christ Disaster Relief, Inc. out of Nashville, Tennessee. In addition, it was announced that we had contacted many churches of Christ throughout the State requesting financial aid to assist those in need. We have already received some funds and expect more to come.
We also had a number of brethren from Los Alamos and White Rock worshipping with us last Sunday. We were encouraged by their faith and we trust we comforted them as well.
Don Osborn, George Carman, and Jeff Martin travelled to Santa Fe Monday to meet with all of the emergency relief agencies to get a feel for what was needed. Basically, everyone with fire damage should contact F.E.M.A. in order to receive Federal assistance. There is enough food and material goods available for people at the present time. The immediate need is for cash. Any who reads this article who desires to help can send funds to Netherwood Park church, c/o Disaster Relief Fund.
A truck with food items arrived Tuesday and travelled to Espanola. It was unloaded at the church facility there. We are sure many have received food boxes already. A portion of the goods was unloaded at our building to be shipped to Ruidoso on Wednesday. On Thursday a load of bed sets was to arrive for distribution to those in need.
Keep this effort in your prayers. It is good to be of assistance to those who experienced losses due to the fire. To God be the glory! For more information, call the church office, 505/256-7389.
