THOUGHTS ON BEING HAPPY!

If one believes what he sees in the movies and what he hears on the TV commercials, this is the "happiest" time of year. After all, it is the Holiday Season! Thanksgiving is just past and Christmas is just around the corner. Good times, family reunions, exchanges of cards and gifts are uplifting the spirits of everyone.

While that is surely the case for many, it is not true for all. According to experts, the Holiday Season is a time of depression and sadness for many. Folks who have lost loved ones are often overcome with sadness this time of year. There are also issues for those who are estranged from family members. Not much joy can be found for many who would like to be with children or parents but for one reason or another are not able to be together. Then, there is sickness. With so many "things to do" this time of year, people in poor health sometimes become depressed because they cannot physically do the things they would like to do. So ~ many folks ask themselves, "Where is the joy of the season?"

While there are no easy answers to these problems, there are some positive things we can do to help us overcome our sadness.
As a child of God, we should be happy. The word "blessed" means happy. May God "bless" you (make you happy) and heal you from whatever distresses you. May you be happy and know it. May the Lord help you to be able to share your happy feelings with someone that you love. May our "Christian joy" become contagious! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
