"ANGELS UNAWARES" |
"Forget not to show love unto strangers; for thereby some have entertained angels unawares"
The challenges that are ahead in this and any other year should not be limited or boxed in by an excuse used so often, "not enough time". As we look into the future and set goals, we should not lose sight of our daily search for Jesus.
Our lives should not be diluted by the supposed lack of time. We must always be eager and prepared to do good. Our sympathy and concern must always be directed toward people. We must be willing to shoulder some of the burdens of others and do it joyfully.
We think that we become weighted down by our own problems but really to have no problems is the greatest burden of all. To sort out our priorities, we need to be sure that our course will take us from the shores of Galilee to the Cross. It is then and then only that we will find the Lord.
If we become so involved in incidentals that grow into mountains, we are likely to spend our time explaining that there will always be a tomorrow and on the morrow we will look for Jesus.
The danger of such an attitude is that as we hurry on we pass by the beggar at the gate, the poor and neglected the prisoner, and the lonely traveler.
Our misdirected preoccupation with ourselves may well create the possibility that within the very sight of our eyes we might pass by the Son of God.
