THE   SON   OF   GOD

He stumbled weakly up the rocky path to Golgotha, tolerating the foul language and abuse of a hostile mob of His own people.   He submitted weakly and willingly to the cruel and inhuman act of crucifixion and languished between Heaven and earth in the company of criminals.

He could have called for the wrath of God to fall upon His tormentors.   He could have demolished the wooden cross to which He was nailed.   He could have turned the Roman soldiers into babbling, demon possessed derelicts.   He could have called down legions of angels and wiped the earth clean of those who were killing him.

He could have -- but He didn't.

Beneath His feet as He hung on the cross, there were no marching protesters.   Surely His rights had been violated, yet none defended Him.   If there had been a newspaper the headlines would make no mention of the unfair trial He had experienced.   Neither would they have made any mention of His death.   There would be no wire service bulletins about His demise.

Heads of state and potentates went right on with business as usual - life going on.   All but One.   His.

          Why?

Because He was separated from the reality of normal existence and removed from the realm of all humanity to be completely alone.   Alone to gather up the sins of mankind and carry them with Him into the grave and leave them there.

How and why could He do this?

Because He was the Son of God?
