	STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE IN 1999 !

There is always something exciting about the beginning of a new year. I suppose that is because we humans like the idea of having the opportunity to start all over again. Each January affords us with brand new opportunities to strive for excellence. That is especially true for God's family at Netherwood Park in 1999.

Because of the fact that we have a new preacher family teaming up the Wayne and Mary Sharp and Wayne and Ina Stell, we can expect some exciting new things to happen during 1999. George Carman will be concentrating on pulpit preaching and evangelism. Wayne Sharp will be concentrating on membership involvement, and Wayne Stell will continue to work in the area of visitation of our elderly and shut-in members. We are each committed to striving for excellence in our areas of responsibility and we believe that God will work through us to accomplish His good will.

The Elders have been planning and praying for the growth of this church for a long time. Saturday, January 9, there was an all day planning session with every elder and every staff member present. We talked about every phase of the work currently being done and we dreamed some dreams for the future. Some short range goals were discussed and put into place. It was an exciting event filled with the exchange of ideas, the assignment of specific responsibilities for staff members, and with many prayers that God would bless our efforts to serve Him. The planning meeting was a good thing. We believe it will bear fruit for a long time to come.

Look at what is already happening in our congregation:

Our new pulpit minister has been selected and is in place.
Our new missionary family, Bheki Mamba, from Swaziland, is selected and in place. The Mamba family (Bheki, Edith, Tibusiso, Wakhile, and Thando) will be here Sunday night and will be in our midst for several weeks. See the bulletin board in the front foyer for details on the work they plan to do in Matsupha, Swaziland.
Last Sunday a lesson and announcement concerning the addition of more deacons was presented. The Elders want you to prayerfully consider those men you believe to have the Scriptural qualifications to become deacons (See 1 Timothy 3:8-12) and then submit their names to the Elders next Sunday, January 24th.
This Sunday we will provide a survey sheet for each member of the congregation. The purpose of the sheet is to evaluate the work being done here and to give each member an opportunity to suggest additional areas of work we should be doing. Now that is striving for excellence!

These are exciting times for the Lord's church at Netherwood Park. There are ample opportunities for service. Please be thinking about where YOU would like to serve. If we will all do something, God will turn it into a huge victory for His cause. May I encourage every member to join hands and work together for the building up of the body of Christ here at this place. Let's all strive for excellence in 1999.
