| THE ULTIMATE CHOICE |
What is the ultimate choice in life? Hint: It is the choice that everyone in the whole world is making every day. It is the choice of life or death!
Solomon wrote, "The truly righteous man attains life, but he who pursues evil goes to his death" (Prov. 11:19). Paul says that we can choose to serve sin which results in death, or we can serve righteousness which leads to eternal life (Rom. 6:15-23). And Jesus puts it in terms of the path we choose; the wide or the narrow. The wide gate and broad road lead to destruction while the small gate and narrow road lead to life (Matt. 7:13-14).
There it is - the choice is between life and death. We made the choice of life when we put on Christ in baptism, but we continually make the choice when we choose to live for sin or for righteousness. We make it when we choose to walk in light or to walk in darkness. We are choosing life when we choose to obey God; we are choosing death when we choose to continually disobey and refuse to repent of our sins.
There are some choices in life that are difficult to make. This one should be a "no-brainer"! As Joshua challenged Israel, "choose for yourselves whom you will serve".
