Our Dog Gin !

I want to talk to you about our dog, Gin. She is a lovely animal who has provided me with some valuable insights into my relationship with my heavenly Father.

Gin is always on guard.   She barks at everyone who walks by our house and lets us know they are intruding upon her space.   I don't know how brave she really is, but I know she always sounds the alarm.   I wish I could be that alert spiritually.   "Be self controlled and alert, your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour," (1 Peter 5:8).

Our dog, Gin, is always ready to please.   That is because she loves us completely.   Gin comes when we call and she loves to be in our presence.   She lays down at our feet when we sit and watch TV.   It is safe to say that Gin is totally faithful and reliable.   I want to be like her in my relationship to God.   "My servant, Moses is faithful in all my house, (Numbers 12:7).

Gin depends on us for all her needs.   She lets us know when she is hungry or when she needs to go outside.   Our dog depends on us for all her needs.   Oh, how I need to realize my dependence on God.   "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father"(James 1:17).

Gin loves to go for walks with us.   In fact, you dare not say the word in her presence or you will be forced to get her leash and go for a walk.   I really desire to be like her in my relationship with God.   The Bible says "walk humbly with your God", (Micah 6:8).

Who would have thought that a dog could teach me about spiritual relationships!   Think I'll give her a hug when I get home!
