| THEY DIDN'T WANT TO GET INVOLVED |
A number of years ago in New York City, a woman was brutally stabbed to death while many people in their near-by apartments watched and did nothing. They didn't even call the police. What was their excuse? They said they didn't want to get involved.
Last Sunday morning we talked about the fact that Christians have a debt they can never pay the debt to love one another (Romans 13:8). The only way we can even make payments on that debt of love is by being involved in each other's lives.
Our involvement includes doing good to all people, especially to Christians, whenever we have the opportunity (Galatians 6:10). It includes showing our love in action, not merely in words (1 John. 3:18). It means being faithful to God and living an obedient life. Our obedience to God is a reflection of our love for our brother (1 John. 2:10).
Remember Paul's words to the Romans, "Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord" (Romans 12:11). Jesus describes His feelings toward uninvolved Christians, those lacking in zeal. He says to them, "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So...I am about to spew you out of my mouth" (Revelations 3:15-16).
