| CHRIST VS. BUDDHA |
In the first century some Jewish Christians were wanting to go back under the law for their salvation. The writer of the book of Hebrews showed that Christ was superior to the law, to Moses, to angels, and to show those people that there was salvation only in Christ.
Thailand is a country of about 65 million people, 95% of whom are followers of Buddha. In our trip to Thailand one of the things that impressed me most was the power of the Gospel to bring all people to Jesus Christ, even those seeking some kind of "salvation" in Buddha.
I have always believed that the Gospel was for all people, but I had never experienced first-hand the life changing power of the word of God in people so different from us in so many ways. Yet, in other ways they are not different. They are people created by God who have sinned and need a savior. Buddha is not a savior.
All Buddhism offers is life after life on earth "until you get it right," which, unfortunately for everyone, no one ever has or ever will except Buddha. But, even if you did finally live a perfect life, you would simply cease to exist and you wouldn't have to come back to life again.
Think of how much more Christ offers. Through Him we will live forever in a perfect heavenly home!
