STRANGERS OR WANDERERS ?

In Hebrews eleven, a number of Old Testament people are commended for their great faith.   It is said of them that they "admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth...looking for a country of their own" (Heb. 11:13,14).   They were "strangers on earth" but they did not wander aimlessly through life!   They had purpose in their life.

There seem to be many people today who are wanderers.   They don't appear to know exactly what they are to do in life.   People go from one job to another, from one place to another, and sadly, from one spouse to another, seeking some elusive, magical answer to the question, "What is my purpose in life"?

Perhaps people are wandering because they fail to understand God's purpose for us in life.   What is His purpose for us?   After trying everything else Solomon got it right.   "Here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man" (Ecc. 12:13).

If living for God is not part of our plan, nothing will satisfy us.   Life will have no meaning.
