Can You Hear His Voice?

by Regina L. Santo

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" [Genesis 1:1].   We are surrounded by His creation, by the majesty of our Lord.   His voice is sounding from all creation.   "He determines the number of stars and calls them each by name" [Psalm 147:4].

The sounds of the world are gone.   Only the voice of God remains.   What do you hear?   Listen closely.   Hear the sound of God's creation praising His wisdom.   Soaring where God leads them, the birds wait for His hand to provide their every need.   Without sowing or reaping or storing away in barns, they instead respond only to His calling.

The water flows steadily at His command.   Unwavering, the stream carves out the land under the direction of our Lord as He "calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out over the face of the land" [Amos 5:8].   The leaves in the trees sway at His gentle whisper. Butterflies dance as the sunlight streams among the trees.

With a clear voice, He is calling out to His creation.   Creation worships and serves the Creator.   He knows each hair on your head; He created you, and He loves you.   Creating your inmost being, He knitted you together in your mother's womb [Psalm 139:13].   He created you and is calling out to you. Can you hear His voice? How do you respond to His calling?

Faithfully, He is calling out to you.   "You are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" [Ephesians 2:10].   Your works have already been prepared for you to do.   God has plans for you, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" [Jeremiah 29:11].   When you call upon Him and pray to Him, He will listen to you.   You will find Him when you seek Him with all of your heart and mind.

Call upon the Lord and be ready to do His will.   As you submit your life to what He has prepared for you, His intentions will be made clear.   Prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled and alert.   "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.   Come near to God, and He will come near to you" [James 4:7 - 8].

Allow Him to hold you close and show His love for you. He will do more than you could ever ask or imagine according to His purpose and will for you. He has created you and loved you and waited patiently for you to respond to His love and grace. Call on our Lord; give your heart and mind to God. With a renewed mind and increased strength, God will be glorified.
